Ellen Zangla specializes in outdoor pet portraits as well as action dog photography. Giving back to the community is a guiding principle of her business; she has been partnering with other pet-related businesses in her market to hold photo fundraisers since 2015. At her first fundraiser in 2015, Paws & Claus, she photographed more than 100 dogs, raising $1,600 in six hours for local animal rescue. This event has grown steadily every year. Ellen is still working with the same marketing partner for Paws & Claus, and in 2023 she photographed close to 200 animals, which generated more than $7,000 in six hours. She also has run other fundraising events and in total has raised more than $125,000 for animals in need. In 2019, she published “Tails of Loudoun County,” with photos and stories of more than 200 pets in her county. The book generated $30,000 for local animal welfare groups and earned her a commendation from the State of Virginia. Ellen also was featured on television and in local newspapers due to her success with “Tails.”
